How to take useful photos

A few minutes of attention here saves the entire first appointment from being a Q&A about angles and lighting.

  • Take in natural daylight if possible, or a brightly lit room. Avoid direct flash.
  • Use a plain background — a wall is ideal. No mirror selfies.
  • Don't filter, edit, or color-correct. Dr. Lindsey needs to see what's actually there.
  • Hair should be dry, clean, and styled the way you normally wear it or pushed back where indicated.
  • Phone camera is fine. Hold steady, take more than one and pick the sharpest.
  • JPEG or PNG, ideally 5 MB or less per image. HEIC from iPhone is also accepted.
